Broad Street Legends founder Mike with his dad at one of his first hockey game
A young child with brown hair and blue eyes smiling at the camera in front of an ice hockey game, with players on the ice and a crowded arena in the background.
A man in military camouflage uniform holding a young girl in a white and pink winter jacket and green hat outside the Spectrum theater.
Two men smiling indoors, wearing black and orange T-shirts with 'Party on Wayne' and 'The Hammer' graphics, standing in front of a black leather chair with a gaming or sports logo. One man is wearing a cap.
Two men smiling and holding an orange T-shirt with a cartoon hockey player and text that reads 'A Proper Guffaw'. They are standing in front of a wooden wall with a sign that says 'Vickie' and 'Commercial Real Estate'.

The motivation to make my own shirts started while going through old pictures at my parents’ house, where I found a photo album from the first hockey game my dad took me to at the Spectrum.

Look at the smile on that kid! I was HOOKED from day one! Ever since then, hockey has been a huge part of my life. I bleed orange and black.

I had plenty of jerseys growing up, but there was always a part of me that wanted something more. I wanted something unique, not over-produced, and reflective of my passion for the home team. There are plenty of apparel companies out there, but none that really focus on the vibe and feel of the Philly hockey experience. In that space is where I started Broad Street Legends in the hopes that I could fill that void.

Broad Street Legends is a genuine small business in every sense of the word. It’s not our primary “job”, but it’s definitely our passion. I have my own employed projects in the history world, and Brian is a hard-working father and husband, so we develop new ideas when both of our lives allow us to move into a creative mindset. The ideas for shirts go from my head into words, where Brian then gets to work with his artistic and design skills to try and capture what I am imagining in visual form. It has taken us years to learn to work as a team like this, and there have understandably been occasional bumps along the way, but we are now at a point where we can seamlessly create imagery at a level we couldn’t have imagined when we first started this journey.

Since 2014, the experience of getting to share our creativity with you all has been truly priceless. This website is the next step in making new memories, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
